Heat Pump Cleaning

Why Cleaning Matters

Over time, dust, pet hair, pollen, and mold build up inside your heat pump’s indoor unit: on the filters, the coil, and especially the blower wheel. That buildup chokes airflow, so your system works harder, heats and cools less, and costs more to run. It can also blow musty air and allergens back into your home. Most manufacturers recommend a professional cleaning at least once a year.

Signs you’re due for a cleaning

  • Weaker airflow, or rooms that won’t reach temperature

  • A musty or sour smell when the unit kicks on

  • Black spots or buildup on the vents or blower

  • Higher electric bills than last season

  • Water dripping from the indoor unit

  • More than a year since the last cleaning

Included

  1. Protect your home. Drop cloths and a cleaning bag go up around the unit so nothing hits your walls or floors.

  2. Filters. Removed, washed, and dried.

  3. Coil deep clean. The indoor evaporator coil is cleaned with a coil-safe cleaner and rinsed.

  4. Blower wheel. The part most people miss. We clean the barrel fan where mold and grime hide.

  5. Drain line and pan. Cleared and flushed to prevent leaks and water damage.

  6. Outdoor unit. Condenser coil rinsed, debris cleared, and clearance checked.

  7. System check. We run the system, check operation, and tell you about anything we notice.

How often?

Once a year for most homes. Every 6 months for homes with pets, smokers, or heavy use.
